I guess it's never going to stop. No matter how many signs are posted, no matter how many arrests are made and tourists given lifetime bans, our Montana national parks are going to be filled with Tourons.

What Is A Touron?

On Instagram, there's a page called Tourons of Yellowstone, and they describe the word 'Touron' and a combination between Tourist and Moron. Touron. It's so fitting for the kind of shenanigans that happen in our national parks.

How Do People Make The Yellowstone Touron List?

By being a complete moron in Yellowstone.

One guy in the video below is said to have blasted the Yellowstone Park Ranger for "ruining it" for his kids. I'm not REALLY sure if that's true, but it wouldn't surprise me at all. I wonder how "ruined" their Yellowstone vacation would have been if the kids would have been injured by the black bear that was 35 feet away? Tourons.

What Are The Animal Safety Rules In Yellowstone National Park?

It's pretty basic and I honestly don't understand why people don't take these seriously.

  • Stay, AT LEAST, 100 yards away from bears and wolves
  • Keep 75 feet between you and all of the other animals in the park
  • Don't feed the wildlife
  • Use road-side pullouts to view the wild life

This is so basic and so full of common sense, that I guess I CAN understand why tourists don't get it.

It never ceases to amaze me how people think they can get really close to a bear on a tour, but if that same bear came into their camp, they'd die of fright.

It's. The. Same. Bear.
