What Great Falls Needs to Know About Malmstrom Air Force Base’s Training Exercise
We're in the thick of summer and for many of us, life is moving at break-neck speeds. You've got the kids to keep an eye on until school picks back up again, we've got several new businesses setting up shop in Great Falls, and now, Malmstrom Air Force Base is making their preparation plans for tomorrow (Wednesday, July 15th).
Malmstrom Air Force Base Announces Training Exercises
As I've learned in my first year of being in Great Falls, Malmstrom Air Force Base is extremely important for the safety of our country.
According to their official site, Malmstrom Air Force Base is just one of three U.S. Air Force Bases "that operates, maintains and secures the Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM)."

Now, it doesn't seem like we'll have to bust those bad boys out any time soon, but with the current climate, there's no question about their importance.
And speaking of safety, I received a press release from Malmstrom Air Force Base regarding a training exercise that will take place on Wednesday, July 15th.
"The 341st Missile Wing will conduct a base-wide training exercise here Wednesday, July 15, 2026," the release says, "The exercise is an opportunity for multiple agencies to practice contingency operations in response to a simulated incident on base."

"Visitors should expect delays at the gates, facility lockdowns, and traffic detours on base. There may also be increased alarms, sirens, notifications, and security measures during the exercise."
Just another day at the office, am I right?
Kidding aside, if you have any concerns about Malmstrom Air Force Base's activities on Wednesday, you can call the 341st Missile Wing Public Affairs office at 406-731-4050.
