Malmstrom Air Force Base recently launched a new program to foster long-standing relationships with community members and leaders throughout Central Montana.

The Honorary Commander Program is a brand new Air Force campaign implemented by Col. Daniel Voorhies, the commander of the 341st Missile Wing.

The Honorary Commander Program allows Malmstrom to create new relationships and strengthen existing partnership to bridge gaps throughout our 13,800 square mile missile field. Having alliances on every corner of the missile complex ensures that our Airmen are postured to carry out the most important mission within the Department of Defense while also taking care of our surrounding communities, said Col. Voorhies.

Honorary Commander Program

Fourteen civic leaders from various counties throughout Central Montana were recently inducted as inaugural honorary commanders for the 341st Missile Wing during a ceremony at the Grizzly Bend club.

The nominees will learn firsthand about Malmstrom's critical role in national security and their role in the United States Military.

The goal is for these area leaders to become ambassadors and advocates for Malmstrom's mission in our community.

Honorary commanders will remain in their current roles for one to two years, after which base leadership will receive a new honorary commander.

This ensures that Malmstrom and our community members continue to benefit from the program for decades.
