The idea of shopping for a car, at first, can seem like a daunting task. Thankfully though, things have changed over the years and the car buying process isn't what it used to be. It's not like the old days where we see a guy with a green visor, cigar in his mouth, and a gold chain around his neck promising to "make you an offer that you can't refuse."
As a matter of fact, several of my coworkers and I have friends in the auto industry and guess what: they're all good people.

With all of that being said, there are still things in the car buying process that both buyer and seller might forget to go over...
"Is the seller a vehicle required to tell me if someone died in it?"
Now, it should be obvious that this question pertains to vehicles that weren't involved in a fatal accident. We're talking about the possible scenario of someone's final moments being spent in a vehicle that wasn't damaged or maybe lightly damaged, but not totaled.

Are You Entitled To Know If Someone Died In The Vehicle You're Purchasing?
If there's an unfortunate circumstance where someone passes away in the vehicle without wrecking it, whether it's due to health issues or something that doesn't impact the vehicle at the time of passing...
Would the next owner of this vehicle be entitled to know?
Thankfully, there are several laws to protect Montanans from being defrauded or "duped" into bad deals. These include protecting you from false advertisements and sellers messing with the odometer, which by the way, is absolutely a felony.

States across the country have varying laws protecting consumers but to put it simply, if you buy a used vehicle in Montana and accept it "as-is", you're agreeing to everything that the car comes with... including the ghost or spirit that the vehicle may be coming with.
Now, most dealerships will have a car detailed, so unless it smells, you might never know
What Can You Do About It?
While there is no specific law that requires a seller to disclose whether or not a dead body was ever inside the vehicle, you can always utilize sources like CarFax or the person you're buying from... why not? Just ask them!
