Cascade, Montana is a town that will I always call my home town.  I was born and raised on a ranch between Ulm and Cascade. I attended school in Cascade from Kindergarten to my Senior year and although I have lived in my current home outside of Great Falls longer than anywhere else- Cascade is still home.

When the weather turns nice (and it is about time!!) I like to take road trips to all of the communities around Montana.  Cascade is always a favorite of mine.  Allow me to introduce some of the attractions of this town of about 600 people that sits 25 miles south of Great Falls and 65 miles north of Helena.

Cascade was incorporated in 1911 and has several famous former residents. The town has a Class C High School that competes in the Northern Division for sports.  It has a little league field, a swimming pool and a town hall that hosts many events throughout the year.

Cascade was home to Charlie Russell at one time.  He lived in a small cabin near the Missouri River.  More importantly, the cabin was near the home of where his future wife, Nancy Cooper lived and worked.

Another Famous former resident was Mary Fields, better known as Stage Coach Mary. She originally came to Cascade to St. Peters Mission west of Cascade. She became a legend around the area for her ability to "do any job a man could do." The town of Cascade is raising funds to place a statue of Mary.  Donations can be sent to PO Box 515, Cascade MT 59421

Cascade has had many great athletes that have seen tremendous success statewide. Most people don't know about one of the earliest stars. Rees Gephardt Williams better known as Steamboat Williams was born in 1892 in Cascade.  He is the first Major League Baseball player born in Montana.  He played for St. Louis Cardinals.

It is a short drive to Cascade, MT and well worth your time.  The town offers three different restaurants (two of them have adult beverages), a grocery store, two motels, three churches, a real estate agency, a trout shop, a clothing store, a meat shop and incredible scenery all around town.  Take the trip- you won't regret it.
