First and foremost, this list is compiled entirely from what I think are the five things you need to know before visiting Great Falls.

Waterfalls near Great Falls

The city gets its name from one fall in particular, which you'll find at Ryan Dam, but there are numerous other falls along the Missouri River.

Remember that almost all of these falls are associated with hydroelectric dams.

A big misconception is that the dams cover up the falls; that is not entirely true; they are still visible below the dams.

If you're into history, art, or learning, Great Falls is the place for you.

Great Falls, Montana, is the museum capital of Montana and features 10 museums throughout the area.

Rivers Edge Trail

With the Missouri River running smack down through the middle of Great Falls, we are fortunate to have over 50 miles of trail to explore.

A good chunk of the trail is paved; however, there are some unpaved sections that will get you into the wilderness.

Great Falls is home to the largest freshwater spring in North America.

Believe it or not, 156,000,000 gallons of water from the spring every day.
