Big Changes Planned For The Great Falls Animal Shelter
The mission of the Great Falls Animal Shelter is to ensure the health, safety, and welfare of domesticated animals in our community.
Recently, the animal shelter received a significant grant that will help further its mission and make some much-needed improvements to the facility.
The long-awaited renovations will be funded through the SLIPA grant and are expected to begin on February 1st.
With the renovations will come some temporary changes to the animal shelter that you need to know about.
January Adoption Event
To prepare for the construction, the Great Falls Animal Shelter will host an adoption event in January.
Adoption fees will be reduced in hopes of decreasing the overall animal population in the shelter.
Temporary Suspension of Public Animal Intake
Beginning on January 20th, the shelter will temporarily stop accepting stray animals.
The shelter, which must be empty by February 1st, will not be able to accommodate animals due to the renovations.
The completion is expected to be done by April 1st of this year.
Full Closure in Mid-March
For roughly 2 to 3 weeks in mid-March, the shelter will be closed entirely for painting.
Any remaining animals in the shelter will be transferred to other facilities temporarily.
