
Great Falls Police Face Gunfire in Sudden Critical Incident
Our police never know what they're getting into and yesterday, our officers went straight into a situation that could have been a lot worse.
Thankfully, our officers were able to think on their feet and act quickly.
Great Falls Police Investigate Sunday Monday Night Shooting
Great Falls police are investigating a critical incident yesterday that took place on the 600 block of 17th Avenue South.
"Just before 8 pm, 9-1-1 dispatchers received a call for help for a family disturbance occurring in a nearby residence," Lt. Matt Fleming said in a video posted to Facebook.
"Within minutes of arrival, officers became involved in a critical incident involving gunshots being fired."
Can you imagine the horror? You show up to a call, ready to help a family in need only to be met with gunfire. I don't care how brave someone says they are, that's the stuff of absolute nightmares.

While there were no reported deaths in this incident, Lt. Fleming did share there were some injuries.
"We can confirm one person has been transported from the scene by ambulance, several GFPD officers were involved in the incident and none of them had injuries that [needed immediate] medical treatment," Lt. Fleming said.
"The scene was quickly secured and made safe by additional GFPD officers and there is no further threat to the community."
Great Falls Police Say the Investigation is Ongoing
Lt. Fleming shared that law enforcement is in "the very early stages" of the investigation and they'll be getting additional assistance from the Montana Department of Justice, Division of Criminal Investigation.
"We want to thank the community for their patience and cooperation," Lt. Fleming said, "At this point, we don’t have any further details to release."
