As the seasons begin to change and the clocks spring forward, winter is finally in our rearview mirror.

Overall, we had a pretty decent winter this year in central Montana, with above-average snow and precipitation and below-average temperatures in many areas.

We've been a bit spoiled over the last few years when it comes to winters, and this year was a friendly reminder just how brutal the winter months can be here in the Treasure State.

But as the season shifts and the days finally begin to get a bit longer, is there anything that you'll find yourself missing as spring and summer approaches?

What Is There To Miss About Winter In Montana?

You might think that there's absolutely nothing about snow and cold that you'll miss as we head into spring.

But let's ponder it for a minute and see if anything comes to mind.

If you're struggling to look on the bright side when it comes to the winter months in Montana here are a few things that I'll personally miss.

  • Snow skiing!
    • I'm super disappointed that I didn't get out skiing more this year. Up until now I haven't gone at all to be honest. Normally, we make it out a few times, but so far, I haven't had a chance to enjoy any of the ample snow this year.
  • Bugs
    • One of the greatest benefits to winter are the lack of bugs! Whether it's mosquitoes or wasps, at least we don't have to worry about them when it's 30 below.
  • The Views!
    • Montana is known for epic views year-round, but there's something about snow crested mountains on the horizon that are absolutely out of this world.
