It takes a special and strong kind of person to sign up to work in law enforcement. As I've said before countless times, the people of law enforcement never know what situation they'll be getting into and as we saw recently in Missoula, they have to be ready for any and everything.

Missoula SWAT Responds to Dangerous Situation

Missoula police shared details on Monday (3/30) about a frightening situation stemming from a domestic disturbance call.

"Missoula Police Department patrol officers responded to the 100 block of Camelot Court following a report of a domestic disturbance," Missoula police shared on their Facebook page, "During the initial investigation, officers received information that a Partner/Family Member Assault involving strangulation had been reported."

"Officers attempted to contact a juvenile male inside the residence."

Police said because the juvenile inside "refused to exit", he was considered a "barricaded subject." This led to the police calling in the Missoula Police Department Special Weapons and Tactics Team... or as we all call it: SWAT.

"As part of the operation, officers made numerous announcements directing the individual to exit the residence," Missoula police said in their press release, "Officers also utilized drones on the exterior of the residence to assist with situational awareness."

"The Missoula Police Department Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) responded and attempted to make contact with the individual in an effort to gain voluntary compliance."

These attempts failed and the juvenile male remained in the house.

Missoula law enforcement eventually got him out... but how?

How Does SWAT Get Someone Out Of A House?

Unfortunately, the juvenile male continued to ignore the requests to exit by SWAT. So, according to the press release, officers got a search warrant signed by a judge which allowed SWAT to try another method of getting him out.

After the court order was obtained, a chemical agent was deployed into the residence. The male then exited the residence and was taken into custody. There were no injuries reported as a result of the police response.

Crazy to think all of that could have been avoided had he just exited the building! Thankfully, no one was hurt.

Police say the juvenile suspect will be "charged with Partner/Family Member Assault and Obstructing a Peace Officer" and is currently being held at the Missoula County Detention Facility.
