You know how they say the two constants in life are "death and taxes?" Well, let's go ahead and add "scams" or "scammers" to that to form the ultimate trio of constants.

We've seen recent scams targeting the elderly, fake parking tickets... and now, we have a scam operation attempting to weaponize the U.S. Postal Service.

If You Received This Text, DON'T RESPOND OR OPEN ANY ATTACHMENTS!

Unfortunately, another scam is going around in the form of a text message. Only this one isn't about unpaid parking tickets.

Rather, it's about a "package" that was unable to be delivered to your home. As a matter of fact, I just got one of these this morning.

"Urgent Notice," the message says from Canadian area code 647, "Please Check Attachment."

Now, I did what you're not supposed to do and I clicked the attachment. Don't worry, I saw it was an 18 KB .PDF file so I felt safe - again, do not try this on your device.

What I found next was an entire explanation of the scam:

We are unable to deliver a package of yours due to incomplete or damaged information on the shipping label, please use the secure link below to update your information in order to reschedule your package delivery.

United States Postal Inspection Service Says This Is a Scam

Thankfully, USPS officials are already on it and provided a few options for those who get this message.

The first option is to email the text to spam@uspis.gov and include as much information about the message as possible, including how much personal information you provided.

The second option is usually available on your phone in the form of a button that says "Report Spam" which usually deletes the message.

The other option is to simply forward the message the message to 7726.
