Take A Look At How Busy Great Falls Firefighters Were On The 4th

Despite the heavy rain in Great Falls, Montana, on the Fourth of July, Great Falls Fire Rescue stayed incredibly busy throughout the day.

It may surprise you, but Great Falls Fire Rescue responded to 33 calls within 24 hours period.

Once the fireworks kicked off after dark, Great Falls Fire Rescue crews became even busier.

Great Falls Fire Rescue responded to 17 calls between 10 PM and 7 AM.

A variety of calls came in on the Fourth of July and the early morning hours of the fifth.

Everything from major emergencies to medical services and even a fire.

• Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Calls: Great Falls Fire Rescue responded to 17 EMS calls, including one transport by GFFR personnel.
• Fires:
  • 6 Dumpster Fires
  • 2 Car Fires
  • 2 Grass Fires
  • 1 Arson Fire
  • 1 Fire caused by the City fireworks display
• Other Calls:
  • 2 Lift Assists
  • 1 Disturbance
  • 1 Welfare Check

Great Falls Regulations for Fireworks

1. Dates and Times: Fireworks can only be sold and shot off within Great Falls city limits on July 2, 3, and 4 from 8 AM to midnight. City Code§9.9.90 / Ordinance 2965.
2. Supervision: Anyone under 10 years old must be supervised by an adult who is within 10 feet of the younger individual.
3. Discharge Locations: Fireworks are only allowed on private property. You may not discharge fireworks in a publicly owned area such as a park, streets, sidewalks, cul-de-sac, public right-of-way, parking lots, or alleys.
4. Clean-Up: This should be common knowledge, but you must clean up after yourself!

Firework Enforcement & Penalties

• First Offense: $100 fine
• Second Offense: $200 fine
• Third Offense: $300 fine
• Fourth Offense: $1000 fine
