
Great Falls Native Chosen As Interim U.S. Attorney For MT
As the political landscape continues to change throughout the United States and here in Montana, a new interim U.S. attorney for the district of Montana was appointed on March 17th.
The new appointee will serve in this role for 120 days or until the United States Senate has confirmed a presidential nominee.
US Attorney For The District Of Montana
Kurt G. Alme has been appointed as the US attorney for the district of Montana.
He was appointed by U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi and was sworn in by Chief U.S. District Judge Brian Morris on March 17, 2025.
Kurt G. Alme Career
Mr. Alme comes to the role with over three decades of legal experience under his belt, serving in a similar role years prior.
His career spans various positions, including his 10 years as Assistant U.S. Attorney in Montana from 2003 to 2010.
In this role, he worked on high-profile financial investigations involving white-collar fraud, government program fraud, bankruptcy fraud, money laundering, and tax evasion.
He also served as the First Assistant U.S. Attorney from 2006 to 2010.
Beyond his prosecutorial roles, Mr. Alme's career included time as the Executive Vice President and later President and General Counsel of the Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch Foundation.
He also served as Montana's U.S. Attorney from September 2017 to December 2020, during which he earned unanimous confirmation following Senator Steve Daines's commendation and President Trump's nomination.
Who is Kurt G. Alme
Mr. Alme is a Great Falls native and graduated summa cum laude from the University of Colorado before earning his law degree with honors from Harvard Law School.
Post-graduation, he clerked for Montana U.S. District Judge Charles Lovell and later became a partner at the regional law firm now known as Crowley Fleck.
