An Old Sport Making New Waves in Cascade County
A new opportunity for children in Cascade County to play rugby is coming in 2024, and it happens to be one of the fastest growing sports across the world. Especially for women, according to Brittanica. It's also played in many countries, including Uruguay, Spain and Japan.
Origins of the sport date back to the early 1800's from the Rugby School, and now kids in our area will be able to partake in this exciting sport very soon.
Cascade Chargers Set to Make Debut In 2024 For Youth
An announcement in October by the Montana Youth Rugby Union made it official that the Cascade Chargers would be making their debut on the fields for 2024. The first game is set for March of 2024 against another newly announced team from Billings, Montana named the Yellowstone Mavericks.
There are four different age groups for youth to join in on:
- Under 12 Boys and Girls
- Under 14 Boys and Girls
- Under 16 Boys
- Under 19 Boys and Girls
Attend Welcome Night in Great Falls to Find Out More About Rugby
On December 14th, the Cascade Chargers will hold their welcome night at the Great Falls Rec Center starting at 6pm. The event is described as:
Come out and learn about the sport, the program, meet the coaches and have some pizza, then try Rugby out at our Rookie Rugby session. Welcome to both boys and girls of all ages (6-19), sizes and skill levels.
