The 2025 Allergy Forecast Is Not Looking Great
There are a lot of positives that come along with spring here in Montana.
But one of the negatives is most certainly an increase in allergies.
2025 Allergy Forecast
According to a recent article published by AccuWeather meteorologists, this year could present a unique challenge regarding allergens.
Meteorologists are looking at the potential of what they're calling "dual peaks" throughout the season.
This basically means that even though we may see an average allergy season, meteorologists are anticipating a few extreme pollen events due to the dryer weather and warmer temperatures.
Now, the good news is the worst conditions are expected in the northeastern portions of the United States.

Tree Pollen
- Generally, tree pollen emerges when temperatures climb above 40 to 45°F.
- Sporadic pollen levels are also anticipated with trees this year, which will likely lead to periods worse allergies.
Grass Pollen
- Just as tree pollen starts to decline, grass pollen takes over!
- Generally, we start to see grass pollen kick up in April.
- This allergy sticks with us pretty much all summer into the fall.
Ragweed
- This allergen overlaps grass pollen and tends to take hold late summer due to moisture influxes.
- Thankfully, the worst of the ragweed is more throughout the southern portions of the United States.
Managing Allergies
- Time Your Outings: Pollen levels will be the worst in the early morning hours.
- Rainy Days: Rainy days are great because they cleanse the air and remove pollen.
- Protect Your Space: Even on a nice day, keeping your windows closed to prevent pollen from entering. Most good filters will keep pollen from circulating throughout your home.
- Clothing Change: Changing your clothes after time outside can help prevent pollen from spreading.
